OOPS!
A downloadable game
The One-Off Play System (OOPS!) is a rules-lite system design for one-off games. This system provides a baseline framework for game sessions which focus predominantly on narrative, but still need some system to track basic things like resolving actions, tracking health, combat, and perhaps even sanity. Character creation is emergent, with each character deciding on their Skills and Occupation as they become relevant to the narrative.
Rolls are reserved for significant Tasks and the results influence the narrative of the outcome. Rolls which are not perfect successes will be characterized as "reckless" or "cautious," prompting the players to decide how actions come up short or fail. All rolls are done with two or three six-sided dice (2d6 or 3d6) in order to be both accessible and simple.
This system is designed with a GM in mind, but you can easily run it GM-less by having the Table decide task outcomes.
Whenever a character dies, the group should exclaim in unison: “Oops!”
